That Fight Ab Flab
Fitness
|
| If
you’re feeling frustrated with extra weight around
your waist, you might want to make a few changes in
your diet. When it comes to body fat, no matter how
hard you try, you can’t choose where to lose it,
but you can increase your overall activity to burn more
calories, plus add some of the following foods to your
diet. They all have one of three nutrients that can
help reduce “ab-flab”: fiber, which banishes
bloating; antioxidants, which help your workout routine
for your abs; or protein to help your metabolism. |
1. |
Quinoa:
It’s a nutty-flavored high-fiber grain that
cooks up like pasta. |
2. |
Soy:
It’s got all three ideal nutrients—fiber,
protein, and antioxidants. Drink soy milk or heat
and eat edamame (soy beans). |
3. |
Almonds:
They also have all three nutrients. Daily recommendations
are 23 nuts a day. |
4. |
Apples:
Any kind, for the fiber. |
5. |
Berries:
They have a lot of fiber as well as antioxidants.
Go for any kind; strawberries are in season now. |
6. |
Leafy
green vegetables: Try spinach or kale for
plenty of fiber. |
7. |
Vegetable
soup: The kind that’s broth based,
not cream based. |
8. |
Seafood:
Especially salmon, which has antioxidant-rich omega-3
fatty acids. |
9. |
Eggs:
The perfect protein. |
10. |
Yogurt:
Its good bacteria has long been known to
help digestion, which reduces bloating. |
