Cook up cancer-killing foods in your own kitchen! A new report states that these foods, many of which are plant-based, seem to stop certain cells from multiplying in the body. Here are a dozen of them, and their cancer-fighting components:

Onions, which contain allium
Hot chili peppers, which contain capsaicin
Carrots, which have carotenoids (what gives carrots their deep orange color)
Apples, which contain quercetin in their red skin
Almonds, which have linoleic acid, a good fat
Citrus fruits, which have flavonoids
Brussels sprouts, which have indoles
Nuts, which allow you to munch on phytic acid
Soy, which holds phytoestrogen (plant estrogen)
Sunflower seeds, which contain saponins
Whole-grain bread and cereal, which have protease inhibitors
Broccoli, which contains turpines (blocking agents)
