How Not To Gain Weight On Vacation

It's vacation time! And in addition to sun, sand, and fun, that often means eating--a lot--and often eating the wrong stuff. While it's fun to let your diet go for a bit as part of your relaxing time away, take note of these tips that could help you avoid bringing home a little something extra from your vacation--and I don't mean souveniers.

Plan ahead: If you have the opportunity to drop a few pounds before you go, do so. Eat sensibly and exercise more beforehand, and you'll be able to be lazy once you're on vacation.
Eat sensibly: Much of the weight you gain on vacation could be due to the quantity of food you eat, rather than the types of food themselves. Try eating small meals throughout the day instead of just a very large breakfast, lunch, or dinner.
Stay active: Walk your weight away! Try to go on 20-minute walks after you eat.
Watch what you drink: Go easy on alcohol, soda, and flavored drinks that are often more available on vacation.
Buy your own food: If you can keep food in your room, hit a grocery store for items you can eat for breakfast or lunch instead of eating larger meals at restaurants three times a day.
